How we work together

Mentoring

The guiding 'lighthouse' of our lab is to meaningfully improve the lives of patients with neurological impairments.

We want to help patients recover their physical interaction capabilities. On a personal level, each of us takes ownership of a project of our own. I (Johannes) will encourage you to follow your own ideas on the way to your personal lighthouse, and I will support you in whatever way you need to succeed.

What I expect from you
  • Ownership: The project is yours. I will help you steer it, but you are the one who knows it best.
  • Honesty about results: Negative results are part of the work, and usually part of the road to the positive ones.
  • Commitment: Research is fun and should be what you really want to do.
  • Care for the group: As a lab, we help each other succeed. And if something is affecting your work — including something outside of it — speak up, and we will help.
What I offer you
  • Industry experience: Nine years at KUKA Robotics building real-world robotic systems.
  • Real supervision: I want to be part of your research and to learn from you as you become the expert on your topic.
  • Equipment: We work with the best hardware and software available.
  • A strong network in academia and industry: I will introduce you to my collaborators, and actively support the next step on your career path.
